5 Saguaro Cactus Poses

You’re out in the desert, minding your business, when you spot it. A saguaro cactus, standing tall, arm up like it’s greeting you across the trail. Maybe it’s friendly. Maybe it’s lonely. More likely? It’s just being weird.
Saguaros are full of personality. None of it is intentional.
The Overachiever
Too many arms. Some point sideways, others reach for the sky. This one looks like it’s in a mid-performance Broadway number. It’s trying very hard, and we respect that.

The Slouch
One arm drapes downward like it gave up halfway. The rest of the cactus looks normal, which somehow makes it worse. You want to encourage it but also… what happened here?

Baby’s First Arm
A tiny little nub barely poking out of the side. It’s not waving. It’s not doing anything. But in about 15 years, it’ll be long enough to make a scene.

The Double Middle Finger
A rare find. Two arms, perfectly vertical, with a slightly aggressive lean. You didn’t do anything wrong, this cactus just has an attitude.

The Mutant (aka Crested Saguaro)
Every now and then, you’ll come across a saguaro that looks... wrong. The arms didn’t grow. They melted together. The top is flattened like a fan, or twisted like it’s been zapped by cartoon radiation. These are called crested saguaros. If you find one, appreciate it. They are estimated to be found in only one in 200,000 saguaros.
